Geography
Lombok is a little beauty island in West Nusa Tenggara. It is located in the east of Bali and bordered to the Lombok Strait. However Sumbawa is located in the east of Lombok and bordered to the Alas Strait. Lombok is separated into 4 regencies namely West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok and North Lombok. Lombok is well known as the top 2 most popular after Bali which has 4.514 km2 andMataram as capital city.
Rinjani Mountain as the top 2 highest mountain in Indonesia sitsin Lombok. The height is 3,726 Meter on the sea level. Once you reach the top of Rinjani you will be amazed by SegaraAnak Lake as the one of natural beauty mystifyingly blue colour of the lake gives SegaraAnak its name: Small Ocean.
Most of the Lombok’s populations are livelihood as farmer, labor, fisherman and trader. However, since the Lombok tourism was opened the people changed over their livelihood into the tourism sector.

The Origin Name of Lombok
Lombok is located in West Nusa Tenggara, some locals interpret Lombok as Chili. However, Lombok comes from Sasak language “Lomboq” means “Straight” and the origin language or tribe name Sasak. Sasak comes from “sak-sak” which means “Outrigger Boat”.
The Legend of Lombok said that the kingdom of Old Mataram in Central Java was led by a king of women named Pramudawardhani who married RakaiPikatan. It is said that the Empress is a master of government, while the husband of war expert. Its power goes west to the island of Sumatra, eastward to the island of Flores. A lot of people went sailing eastward through the Java Sea using anoutrigger boat. The port is named Lomboq (straight), to commemorate the long journey. They are straight to the east. Furthermore, Lomboq is now not only the name of the port where the boat disembarked, but also became the name of Lomboqisland which later turned into Lombok. They sailed by anoutrigger boat called “sak-sak”, and they were called “Sak-Sak” means people who came by boat.
Lombok Tourism Potential
Lombok is surrounded by small islands that arenamed as Gili such as Gili Air, Meno andGiliTrawangan as the widest and most crowded one. As well as other Gilis in Sekotong area such as GiliNanggu, GiliKedis, GiliSudak etc. There are other most visited places such as Senggigi, Kuta, Kelambu Waterfall, Sendang Gila Waterfall and Sembalun.
Lombok Culinary
Lombok culinary has a very special taste hot and spicy as well as the island name “Lombok” in Bahasa Indonesia means Chili paper. These are the traditional food of Lombok such as AyamTaliwang, PelecingKangkung, Sate Rembiga and Ares. Ares is made by the part of young banana stem, cut into slices and cook with various spices. Ares is usually found in a ceremony or special event.
